 Home Emergency Assistance

If you already have this cover as part of your policy with Cornhill Direct and you need to request emergency help, call Home Emergency Assistance on 020 8603 9810. Please have your policy number to hand if at all possible.

When things go wrong in the home, it's not just a question of who's going to pay for the damage. If you're left without electricity, or heating, or running water, there's also the question of how you'll cope then and there.

That's where home emergency assistance comes in. Home emergency assistance can provide you with help you need, when you need it, to get your household up and running again as soon as possible.

When you buy home emergency assistance through Cornhill Direct, you get:

  • help in the case of breakdown of electricity supply or heating
  • help should the hot water or plumbing break down causing water damage inside your home
  • assistance that's available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year
  • cover of up to £250 per claim towards cost of labour, parts and material

It's mid-afternoon on Christmas eve. The family is due to arrive, tomorrow's roast is ready to go into the oven.

Suddenly there's a smell of burning, which can't yet be the turkey. Then the TV and lights go out. Going to the hallway, you find that it's full of smoke, and the fusebox is making crackling noises.

You close the door, get out of the house and call the fire brigade, who arrive within minutes. They make the fusebox safe and confirm that you can re-enter the house – but you still have no power and a houseful of guests due to arrive before the evening.

Because you have Cornhill Direct's home emergency assistance, you call the helpline and they arrange for an electrician to come out. He is able to repair the fusebox and restore the electricity supply, meaning that you don't have to cancel Christmas.
