'Alphabet soup' sieved
Industry Insurance News - Published: 29/01/2008

CII deputy-director general, Bob Bullivant, has welcomed the news that his organisation has been credited with QCA accreditation to fit with the national curriculum.
This framework allows a comparison with other regulated qualifications to be made.
CII's porfolio of financial planning qualifications have been accredited at the following levels: Certificate in financial planning - Level 3 (equivalent to A-level); Diploma in financial planning - Level 4 (equivalent to the first year degree course); and Advanced diploma in financial planning - Level 6 (equivalent to degree).
Mr Bullivant said: "Before Christmas we launched a campaign to sort out the alphabet soup of qualifications... one way of making progress while retaining standards would be to use the QCA framework as the starting point for agreement.
"This has the double impact of challenging any awarding body in the sector to gain regulatory authority recognition as a way of proving both the quality and level of their award."
CII is the world's foremost professional organisation for insurance and financial services, with 92,000 members committed to maintaining the highest professional standards.
