Traffic jams fall
Car Insurance News - Published: 27/08/2008

A study by Trafficmaster and the RAC Foundation discovered overall congestion on the UK's motorways and trunk roads was 12 per cent lower between January and June this year than during the same period in 2007.
Motorists are also slowing down in an effort to save on fuel, with the average motorway speed falling from 63.3 mph to 62.2 mph, the report stated.
Georgina Read of Trafficmaster said the findings suggested there has been a reduction in the overall volume of vehicles on the country's roads.
"The upshot of less traffic is a drop in congestion levels, meaning motorists can get from A to B quicker while travelling at lower and more economical speeds," Ms Read claimed.
In related news, Mike Waters, head of market analysis at Arval, told the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser that motorists can expect the kind of traffic measures introduced in London to be adopted elsewhere in the country.
The expert predicted that traffic lights may soon be re-phased to ensure traffic is flowing with fewer disruptions.
