Government 'needs to do its bit to keep home insurance affordable'
Home Insurance News - Published: 24/11/2008

The British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) pointed out the 2007 summer floods caused about three billion pounds worth of damage, which is equivalent to about four or five years worth of weather-related claims.
However, Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive, said: "Providing the government still do their part ... and spend some money and make the effort to protect our properties ... then insurers will be able to carry on providing affordable cover."
Mr Trudgill added to date he did not think the leaders of the country had done as much as they could have done.
This comes after Biba called on the government to implement a VAT exemption for all flood repair work to encourage homeowners and businesses to do as much as possible to protect their properties.
