Van owners urged to remove tools
Trades people and builders who are keen to avoid a van insurance claim are being encouraged to remove valuable equipment from their vehicles at night.

Leicestershire police have issued this warning after a spate of thefts in the county.

In the past two weeks, some 15 vans have been broken into overnight and tools and electrical equipment have been taken.

The thieves who have been targeting these vehicles have gained entry by cutting through the rubber around the rear windows or by breaking door locks, to avoid making noise.

Inspector Mark Cuddihy stated: "The best way to stop these offences is to empty your van every night and lock your equipment away."

He also said vehicles should be locked when left unattended during the day.

In other news, Leicestershire police recently reminded drivers to check the lights on their motors are in good working order now it is getting darker earlier in the evening.
