Operation Guardian involved visiting more than 1,000 homes to offer tips on crime prevention and delivering informational leaflets.
In addition, the Bradford Neighbourhood Policing Team's Respect Day, held at Manchester College, was one of several events aimed at giving people the chance to register their property.
Detective Chief Inspector Jacqueline Pendlebury said the scheme demonstrates the police are serious about burglary, but urged the public to take action as well.
"Residents can play their part by following simple advice such as always shutting and locking doors and windows and remembering to use alarms, locks and lights to keep burglars out in the cold," she advised.
Earlier this month, Greater Manchester police also recommended people keep expensive Christmas presents out of sight to discourage thieves.
Operation Guardian also targeted criminals themselves 20 arrests were made in east and north Manchester.
