Home insurance customers urged to improve security
A person who leaves their house in darkness is risking a home insurance claim, it has been suggested.

Tayside police have issued this warning after some 25 properties were burgled in the city during the past week.

According to the investigating officers, most of these break-ins took place during the late afternoon or early evening after it had started to get dark.

They explained it would have been obvious to the burglars that no-one was at home.

Commenting on the break-ins, Constable Colin Brough stated: "It is extremely disappointing and frustrating that we are still seeing avoidable crime being committed in the city."

He added residents should be doing all they can to make life as difficult as possible for burglars.

In related news, Tayside police recently reminded residents in Dundee that burglars often target sheds and garages, as well as homes.

However, they pointed out simple security measures could put criminals off.
