Snow 'causes increase in car insurance claims'
The number of car insurance claims likely to be made as a result of Monday's snow is expected to be three times higher than on a normal winter's day, it has been reported.

According to Accident Exchange, the total repair bill for the UK is likely to be in the region of £60 million.

The company also pointed out the economy would probably lose a further £5.25 million, as the result of people taking time off work to sort out the aftermath of crashes.

It stated the average motorist misses 3.5 days in the office following a collision.

Steve Evans, chief executive of Accidents Exchange, put the rise in crashes down to the fact Brits are not used to driving in ice and snow.

He said: "Driver inexperience is to blame with people coming across marooned cars and hitting them, driving too fast or too close to the car in front."

Having a good car insurance policy may provide motorists with precious peace of mind if they are unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident.
