Green habits 'can mean cheaper car insurance'
Adopting an environmentally-aware approach to driving can see car insurance premiums fall, it has been claimed.

The British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) said a person's choice of model and how often they get behind the wheel can have a significant impact on the cost of cover.

It pointed out the fewer miles a motorist covers, the less they will pay.

The body - which represents the interests of the UK insurance industry - also explained by choosing a vehicle with a smaller engine, drivers will qualify for cheaper cover and help reduce their impact on the environment.

Biba's technical and corporate affairs executive, Graeme Trudgill, said people did not necessarily have to opt for a policy which was described as being eco-friendly.

"The green thing can sometimes be slightly misinterpreted and companies are using the green term to attract people with that particular conscience," he stated.

However, Mr TRudgill added trying to do your bit for the environment is a good thing.
