Putting off servicing could result in a car insurance claim

According to General Motors, failing to get critical components such as brakes and tyres checked on a regular basis is a false economy.
It stated in icy conditions it is particularly important that a car is in peak condition.
The group said figures from a YouGov survey - which showed 13 per cent of drivers put off making repairs in 2008 because of financial concerns - were worrying.
It pointed out owners of Saabs, Vauxhalls and Chevrolets could provide themselves with valuable peace of mind by taking their vehicles for a winter safety check and top up.
The company explained this includes an internal and external car inspection, as well as checks on the underside of the car and beneath the bonnet for £35.
Last month, General Motors reminded owners of Saabs, Vauxhalls and Chevrolets they were entitled to join its free accident support service.
