Home insurance holders 'need to be wary of bogus officials'
Residents in West Yorkshire keen to avoid a home insurance claim are being urged to be on their guard against bogus officials.

Police issued this advice following two burglaries in Halifax during which thieves posed as representatives of the Water Board.

Officers revealed both victims were elderly and said it was important people kept an eye on vulnerable friends, family members and neighbours.

Acting Inspector Chris Norbury from the Upper Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team offered elderly people advice on protecting their homes.

He stated: "It is very important that if people call at your door and you are unsure as to who they are, you refuse entry and contact the police."

Anyone who has any information on the break-ins which took place in the Mytholmroyd area of Halifax have been urged to contact the authorities.

In other news, West Yorkshire police recently produced an online video in an attempt to trace the owners of a haul of bicycles they believe to have been stolen from residents in Leeds.
