Home insurance holders 'should prepare for more bad weather'
Home Insurance News - Published: 10/02/2009

Moneysupermarket.com has warned householders a second week of poor conditions means some people may have to deal with the threat of flooding.
People living in at-risk areas have been advised to check exactly what their buildings and contents insurance covers, as well as looking at the limits and excesses stipulated.
According to Moneysupermarket.com, it makes sense to opt for high-quality protection, as cheaper alternatives can result in customers being left out of pocket if they have to make a claim.
Spokesman Steve Sweeney stated: "With the ground saturated from rainfall and melting snow, the prospect of flood risk could be imminent."
He pointed out insurers will expect people to do all they can to limit the cost of their claim by taking action such as moving high-value portable items upstairs.
In other news, the British Insurance Brokers' Association recently advised people to let their provider know if they were planning on leaving their property unoccupied for an extended period of time.
