Home insurance holders urged to weather-proof properties

According to Confused.com, the combination of heavy rain and melting snow means many buildings in the country may be at risk of flooding.
It suggested people review their current home insurance cover to make sure they are protected against the threat of water damage.
The price comparison site also recommended householders check their contents value is up-to-date.
In addition, it encouraged people to prepare their houses for the worst by moving furniture and items of sentimental worth to a safer place.
Residents were warned it was not just people who were used to flooding who needed to take action.
"Some of the more recent heavy rainfall has affected areas traditionally not seen as flood-risk areas," it stated.
In other news, the British Insurance Brokers' Association recently suggested a thorough clean could help prevent a vermin infestation in houses which were being left empty for a significant period of time.
