Youngsters 'should aim to build up their no claims bonus'
When drivers first pass their test their main concern should be building up their no claims bonus so the cost of their car insurance falls, it has been suggested.

According to the British Insurance Brokers' Association, new motorists should resist the temptation to invest in a high-powered vehicle.

It claimed inexperienced drivers were less likely to be involved in accidents if they go for a model with a small engine.

Head of technical services Peter Staddon commented: "If you're learning to driver you don't need a powerful car, you need to understand the road."

Mr Staddon also stated, despite the high cost of motor insurance for newly qualified drivers, he did not think young people would be priced out of the market.

He explained the insurance industry is highly innovative and is always offering fresh ideas and methods of payment.

Elsewhere, a study from the Institute of Advance Motorists recently revealed young male drivers are most likely to take to the road without a cover.
