Motorists in Oldham urged to improve security
Drivers in Oldham keen to avoid a car insurance claim have been urged to attend a crime prevention advice session.

Two events have been organised for residents of the town.

Motorists can either make their way to the Tesco car park on Ashton Road West on Sunday February 22nd any time between 12:00 and 16:00 GMT or they can turn up in front of Netto on Hollins Road on the following Wednesday from 16:00 to 19:00 GMT.

Officers will be on hand to offer people security tips and AA representatives available to fix number plates to vehicles with anti-tamper screws.

Inspector Dave Stopford said having registrations securely attached can prevent motorists having their car's identity stolen.

He stated: "The simple measure of having these anti-tamper screws fitted greatly reduces the chance of number plates being targeted and also saves people a lot of worry."

In other news, officers across Greater Manchester recently announced they were displaying seized vehicles outside police stations to demonstrate the consequences of driving without car insurance, road tax, an up-to-date MOT certificate or a licence.
