Surrey police announce burglary crackdown

The force explained although break-ins were not a major problem in the area, it was keen to tackle the issue before the summer.
It stated burglary can be more of a problem during the warmer months as windows are more likely to be left open.
As a result, officers are spending a week visiting residents in the county in order to offer crime prevention advice.
The police said some of the most important things to remember are to keep doors and windows locked, ensure valuables are hidden away and check fences and gates are secure.
Detective Chief Superintendent Kevin Deanus commented: "Burglary is, on the whole, an opportunistic crime."
He stated: "If thieves are scouting for potential targets and see an easy access point to your home, they will take advantage of it."
Neighbourhood watch groups were highlighted as one useful burglar deterrent.
